Pematangsiantar, 29th August 2024 – Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) business units are currently preparing a range of activities to mark RGE Founder’s Day 2024. Among these is a mass health check-up organised by the Asian Agri and Tanoto Foundation in collaboration with the Pematangsiantar City Government, held on Thursday, 29th August 2024, at Balai Bolon, H. Adam Malik Field, Pematangsiantar, North Sumatra.

In her opening remarks, Pematangsiantar Mayor, Susanti Dewayani, expressed her highest appreciation to Tanoto Foundation and Asian Agri for their active participation and contribution in efforts to reduce the number of communicable, non-communicable, and infectious diseases in the city of Pematangsiantar.

“I hope this initiative can be carried out continuously, so that healthcare services become more accessible, enabling the people of Pematangsiantar to achieve a healthier, more prosperous, and higher-quality life. Collaboration and synergy among community components are critical to the success of the Healthy Living Community Movement (Germas) in Pematangsiantar.”

The goal of the Healthy Living Community Movement is to reduce key risk factors for communicable and non-communicable diseases, maternal mortality, infant mortality, and stunting, whether caused by biological, behavioural, or environmental factors.

Herman Sembiring, Regional Head of Asian Agri North Sumatra, explained, “This health check-up activity is part of the 57th-anniversary celebration of our parent company, Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) Group, or RGE Founder’s Day. During this commemoration, we conduct various social initiatives for the communities surrounding our company. This aligns with RGE’s vision and our company’s philosophy that a company’s presence must benefit the community, or ‘good for the community.’”

The Head of the Pematangsiantar City Health Office, Irma Suryani, stated that approximately 500 beneficiaries attended the health check-up.

“As part of the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Screening Implementation, the Pematangsiantar City Health Office conducted early detection of mental health, measurements of body weight, height, waist circumference, and blood pressure, interviews regarding non-communicable diseases within individuals and their families, blood sugar level testing, as well as health and tuberculosis (TB) education.”

During the event, Felly Ardan, Project Management Coordinator at Tanoto Foundation, stated, “Since 2018, Tanoto Foundation has been present in Pematangsiantar city through the PINTAR (Pengembangan Inovasi untuk Kualitas Pembelajaran) program. This time, we are participating in supporting the government’s priority program to reduce stunting rates and carry out social initiatives. This health check-up event is a tangible expression of our commitment to contributing to the community. We hope that through this activity, people will become more aware of their own and their family’s health.”

This mass health check-up by the Asian Agri and Tanoto Foundation is not the first of its kind. Similar activities have been routinely conducted in several cities, such as Medan and Pelalawan in Riau.

In addition to the health check-up, Asian Agri will conduct several other activities across its operational areas to celebrate RGE Founder’s Day 2024, including fruit tree planting, river clean-up initiatives, and school education programs to prevent forest and land fires in North Sumatra, Riau, and Jambi, as well as a beach clean-up in Jakarta.
