Pelalawan, 6th August – Asian Agri, in collaboration with the Tanoto Foundation and supported by the Pelalawan Regency Government, held a free health screening event for the community in Ukui District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau.

The free health screening aimed at detecting uric acid, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels, as well as conducting TB screening. Additionally, the event provided health education on healthy living and efforts to accelerate the reduction of stunting.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Asian Agri and Tanoto Foundation for supporting healthcare services in Ukui and surrounding areas. The community’s enthusiasm exceeded our expectations, especially among the elderly, who were grateful for the opportunity to routinely monitor their health. We also conducted TB screening for 26 individuals,” stated the Head of Ukui District Health Centre, Rosdiana.

Group Manager of PT Inti Indosawit Subur – Ukui Group (PT IIS), Victory Brahmana, remarked, “The free health screening is a tangible manifestation of Asian Agri’s philosophy, Good for Community. We cannot achieve our vision of a healthier community alone; hence, the involvement of Tanoto Foundation and the Pelalawan Regency Government is invaluable. Our aim is to help more residents and reduce the prevalence of the diseases screened today. PT IIS, a business unit of Asian Agri, continues to support the acceleration of stunting reduction, especially in Pelalawan Regency, through sustainable programs and initiatives.”

Regional Lead of Tanoto Foundation, Dendi Satria Buana, added, “Tanoto Foundation is committed to enhancing the quality of life in Indonesia. We collaborate with the government and like-minded partners to achieve this. One of our focuses is improving healthcare services and supporting the government’s efforts to reduce stunting and maternal and infant mortality rates. The health screening and education program in Ukui Subdistrict is a concrete step towards fulfilling this commitment.”

The health screening event, which began at 07:30 AM and concluded around 02:00 PM at Tri Mulya Jaya Village Hall, successfully screened 221 residents. Similar events will be conducted at various locations in the future to reach a wider community.

“We appreciate the concern of Asian Agri and Tanoto Foundation for health issues in our community. Although health screenings have been conducted before, the enthusiasm this time was greater, thanks to the strategic location that attracted more residents from Ukui Subdistrict. We hope that in the future, Asian Agri can also collaborate with our cooperatives to improve the economic sector and other areas,” said Suyana, Head of Tri Mulya Jaya Village.

Previously, Asian Agri and Tanoto Foundation, in cooperation with the Pelalawan Regency Government through the Office of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning (DP3AP2KB), organised a Regency-Level Stunting Conference at the Pelalawan Regent’s Office on 30th July 2024. This initiative is part of the two companies’ efforts to accelerate the reduction of stunting in Pelalawan Regency. During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Pelalawan Regency Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team (TPPS), Tanoto Foundation, and Asian Agri, along with a joint commitment from the Pentahelix Action Convergence on Stunting in Pelalawan Regency.
