Simalungun, North Sumatra, 29 April 2021 – Ahead of Eid Fitr, Asian Agri’s business unit PT Supra Matra Abadi (PT SMA) Kebun Tanah Datar donated to the repairs of mosques and prayer rooms to the communities where it operates. Today, representatives of the business unit symbolically handed over the now-completed repairs at At Taqwa Mosque, Sei Muka Village, Datuk Tanah Datar District, Batu Bara Regency and Al Ikhwan Mosque, Banjar Ulu Village, Ujung District Padang, Simalungun Regency.

Received by the Mosque Welfare Agency (BKM), Ramli Batubara, PT SMA Kebun Tanah Datar’s donation provided the necessary construction and repair material for At Taqwa Mosque. The materials comprised cement, sand, gravel, and materials used to build a fence at the mosque.

For Al Ikhwan Mosque, the donation comprised brick blocks for the construction of the mosque’s minarets. This donation was received by BKM Masjid Mislam and the Village Secretary of Banjar Ulu, Abdul Masjid Sinaga.

“At Taqwa Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Batu Bara district. At Taqwa Mosque is located next to a river, and we are now able to build a fence to ensure the safety of our community, especially young children. We are very grateful for PT SMA’s support and attention. This is the third time PT SMA has contributed to our mosque renovation activities. This support will continue to strengthen our relationship and we hope will continue to grow for years to come,” said Ramli.

The donation to At Taqwa Mosque was handed over by the Head of PT SMA, Hendrik Fransiskus Ambarita, accompanied by PT SMA KTU, Ayyub N.S, and CSR Coordinator of North Sumatra, Aris Yuneidi.

“We have conducted preliminary surveys and coordinated to ensure that we support the right needs for the mosque and the community. This year we are proud to be supporting two mosques in two villages. Hopefully this donation bring positive impact to the communities,” Mr Hendrik said.

The house of worship donation program is an annual routine program implemented by Asian Agri through its plantation unit. This program is based on the company’s attention and care for the worship needs, safety and well-being of the community. Asian Agri is a plantation company that is a member of the Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) group. RGE manages a group of resource-based manufacturing companies with global operations.

“Our CSR program covers a variety of activities that support the different needs of our community. We are pleased that our contributions have helped the community to usher in Ramadan as well as facilitate preparations leading up to Eid Fitr. Asian Agri has assisted with the renovation and repairs of eight mosques and prayer rooms in our operational areas and we will continue to do the same for several more villages before Eid. The donation of construction materials are made based on the needs of each mosque and prayer room. We are also pleased to have been able to carry out this meaningful work for our communities while closely adhering to government health and safety protocols. We hope the construction and repairs will provide greater comfort for all members of the community when they attend activities at the mosque,” Mr Aris said.
