Pelalawan, 19 November 2024 – Asian Agri, in collaboration with Tanoto Foundation and the Pelalawan Regency Government, organised another Sehat Bersama (Health Together) event in Lalang Kabung Village, Pelalawan District, Riau. This initiative, aimed at fostering community awareness about healthy lifestyles, took place on 18 November 2024 at the Pelalawan District Health Centre.

“The residents feel deeply appreciated by the numerous programmes offered by the company, spanning social, educational, economic, and infrastructural aspects. Today, health education and check-ups are significant for our community,” expressed Nanang Helmanto, the Village Head of Lalang Kabung, during the opening ceremony.

Nanang remarked, “Just last month, we received nutritional support for pregnant women and toddlers, significantly aiding our village’s efforts to improve human resource quality. We hope this strong partnership continues to positively impact our community.”

Over 120 residents were served by teams from Asian Agri, Tanoto Foundation, and the Pelalawan Regency Health Department. Free health checks offered at the event included glucose, cholesterol, and uric acid screenings, alongside health education sessions.

The Sehat Bersama event, a testament to Asian Agri’s commitment to community welfare, has been a recurring initiative across various regions. “This aligns with our philosophy of being ‘good for the community,’ aiming to make a meaningful impact on the communities within our operational areas,” stated the Sustainability Operation and CSR Manager at Asian Agri, Putu Grhyate Yonata Aksa.

“We aim not only to reduce disease prevalence in the regions we visit but also to expand the reach of Sehat Bersama to more areas through collaboration with Tanoto Foundation and local governments,” Putu added.

Echoing this sentiment, the Regional Lead of Tanoto Foundation Riau, Dendi Satria Buana, highlighted the foundation’s commitment to improving community quality of life through partnerships with Asian Agri, the government, and other stakeholders. “This health check-up and education initiative is a tangible manifestation of our dedication to advancing quality of life, contributing to the UN SDGs’ ‘Good Health and Well-being’ goal.”

Dendi further acknowledged the synergy among Asian Agri, Pelalawan Health Office, and the Lalang Kabung village leadership in providing free health services to the community.

In 2024 alone, the Asian Agri and Tanoto Foundation conducted Sehat Bersama events across North Sumatra and Riau, including locations such as Medan, Pematangsiantar, Binjai, and Rantauprapat.
