Petapahan Maju Bersama, a smallholder group associated with Asian Agri, won the Plantation Productivity Award during the 14th Indonesia Palm Oil Conference (IPOC) in Nusa Dua, Bali.
The award was presented directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.
Several criteria were considered by the jury in deciding the Plantation Productivity category winner, including productivity, crop rotation, and plantation cleanliness.
Petapahan Maju Bersama, using Asian Agri’s Topaz seeds since 2008, is able to produce plantations with a lifespan of nine to ten years, and crop rotations three times a month.
With the Topaz seeds, the group manages to achieve an average yield of 22.16 tons per hectare annually (deemed during the January – September 2018 assessment period), and is estimated to achieve a productivity of 30 tons per hectare annually, by the end of this year.
