[METRO RIAU] PIONEERING “ZERO BURNING”, ASIAN AGRI HELPS SMALLHOLDERS OPEN LAND WITHOUT BURNING

Asian Agri, as one of companies pioneering in zero burning policy implementation, continues to be committed to ensuring that this policy can also be implemented by the community around the company.

In an effort to prevent forest and land fires, Asian Agri encourages smallholders and communities not to burn land in clearing plantation areas. Not only educate people with theory, Asian Agri also demonstrates its commitment by using mechanical method and equipment to do clearing land for smallholder oil palm plantations.

“The land clearing without burning is a program to build community’s responsibility to protect the environment by leaving the old ways of burning in land clearing which has a big risk,” said Welly Pardede, Head of HSE & CSR Asian Agri, at Lubuk Ogong Village Office, Bandar Sei Kijang District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau.
