Asian Agri, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, is always aiming to increase people’s quality of life, especially those who are living around its areas of operation. Among the program initiatives are assistance for the reconstruction of houses or worships in Asahan regency in North Sumatra.
Asian Agri, through its business units PT Gunung Melayu and PT Saudara Sejati Luhur (SSL), provided materials required for the restoration of three houses of worships in residential areas around the company’s plantations. These buildings are the Baiturrohman Mosque in Sidomulyo Village, GPdI Filadelfia (church), and another church in Gonting Village, Malaha.
“The company constantly analyses the conditions of the communities living around our plantations. We want to see villages around us develop and grow. We see the most important things which are urgently required for their development, and we put them as the priority in our CSR program,” said Ramsi Simanjorang, Plantation Manager at PT Gunung Melayu.
Among the construction materials provided by the company are multi roofs for the mosque, cement and water pump machines for the churches.
