Asian Agri, as one of the country’s top palm oil producers, is committed to help supply quality seeds as part of the Indonesian government’s call to replanting 185,000 hectares of palm oil plantation this year, reported Jakarta Globe.
At least 27 million quality palm oil seeds will be required to meet the government’s goal, said Asian Agri.
At the moment, Asian Agri produces and supplies Topaz Series-3 seeds which produce high-quality seedlings with high yields to farmers and companies.
As of June 2018, Asian Agri has supplied more than four million seeds to them.
According to Asian Agri’s seed specialist Ang Boon Beng, proper seed selection is crucial to yielding the best and sustainable results from oil palms.
Ang said that there are a lot of inferior quality seeds sold online, and urged farmers to avoid purchasing the wrong product as it will have a long-term effect on their oil palm production.
