Asian Agri has issued a statement firmly maintaining its commitment to producing sustainable and responsible palm oil, following an Eyes on the Forest (EoF) report on big palm oil companies that included Asian Agri.
In its report, EoF stated that Asian Agri purchases Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) illegally from national park areas in Sumatra.
In its statement to Gatra.com, Asian Agri revealed that EoF requested clarification on May 21, 2018 regarding findings that PT Inti Indosawit (an Asian Agri subsidiary) had received 1.5 tons of FFB from Tesso Nilo National Park on June 17, 2017.
Asian Agri immediately investigated the said location on May 23, 2018 and examined the supply chain report track record to collect up-to-date data, while examining the supply chain report from June 17, 2017.
“On May 24, we took the bold move – with regards to this issue – of suspending the truck of the Shiping Order (SO) holder who was reported,” said Bernard Riedo, Head of Sustainability and Stakeholder Relations.
