Jakarta, 27 Februari 2023 – PT Inti Indosawit Subur, a business unit of Asian Agri, receives the People’s Palm Oil Replanting Program (PSR) Award for the best Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) productivity under the Partnership scheme from the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
The award is given because Asian Agri has succeeded in establishing a partnership with the Sawit Subur Village Unit Cooperative (KUD) so that the productivity of FFB is proven to be above average. The award is given at the National Palm Oil Coordination Meeting held at the Pullman Jakarta Central Park Hotel (27/02).
At the opening of the coordination meeting, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Syahrul Yasin Limpo explains that a good cooperation is needed between the central government and local governments, associations and also companies to succeed and accelerate the PSR program so that people’s income increases. Therefore, effective policies and coordination are needed between institutions, task forces, as well as associations and companies.
Head of Operations Asian Agri, Omri Samosir said, “We are very proud and grateful for the award given from the Ministry of Agriculture. Our support is not limited to the PSR program, but we go down directly with the smallholders and provide guidance how to manage their plantation when the plants are not yet productive until they are productive,” he said.
The Chairman of KUD Sawit Subur, Bambang Haji Sutjipto said “We have partnered with Asian Agri since the Government’s Transmigration Program in 1991. We have seen how the company manages oil palm plantations well, so we will continue this partnership”, he said. KUD Sawit Subur is located in Kampung Baru Village, Ukui District, Pelalawan District, Riau.
From 2019 to 2022, through a partnership pattern fostered by Asian Agri with the support of funds from the Oil Palm Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS), KUD Sawit Subur’s FFB productivity achievement is 19.19 tons/hectare/year in the 3 immature plants period (P3). This is an evidence that PSR can increase the productivity of oil palm FFB, because the 30 month old plant can already produce FFB.
“This cannot be done without good cooperation between companies, BPDPKS, banks, oil palm smallholders through KUD. This award shows that Asian Agri and the Indonesian government have the same goal of improving the lives of farmers. This also adds to our enthusiasm to continue to improve partnerships better with oil palm smallholders in order to increase the productivity of their oil palm trees through the PSR program”, Omri said.
Asian Agri is committed to providing support and guidance in implementing best management practices as well as providing high quality oil palm seeds (Topaz) that can support the productivity of FFB for smallholders. This is also in accordance with the Asian Agri 2030 Commitment pillar 1 regarding Partnership with Smallholders which aims to improve the welfare of the smallholders.
The coordination meeting is also attended by several speakers, namely Director General of Plantation, Andi Nur Alamsyah, Deputy for Food and Agribusiness Coordination, Musdhalifah Machmud, Main Director of BPDPKS Eddy Abdurachman, and Director General of Regional Development Development at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Teguh Setyabudi.
