Asian Agri is one of the companies with the largest number of partnerships with oil palm smallholders in Indonesia. The farmers’ partnership program began in 1987, when the company became a pioneer in supporting the government’s transmigration program (PIR-Trans), through the transmigrant/plasma farmer partnership program in the provinces of Riau and Jambi. To date, Asian Agri is partnering with more than 30,000 oil palm smallholders, aiming to improve the life quality of smallholders and support sustainable palm oil management in Indonesia. Asian Agri also provides alternative economic sources for partner farmers whose plantations have reached unproductive age and need rejuvenation.
