[IDN TIMES] CONSIDERED MYSTICAL, OWL PROVEN EFFECTIVE PEST CONTROL

One way to get rid of pests in plantations is to use pesticides. However, it has a negative impact on plantations and can damage the surrounding ecosystem if applied not in accordance with the right composition.

Then what kind of ways can be done to protect plantations from pests but not damage the environment? The solution is to empower natural predators, namely the tyto alba or owl. Apparently, Harry Potter’s favorite bird has proven to be effective in protecting plantations from rat pests, you know!

This method is also applied by Asian Agri, a company that has an oil palm plantation area of 100,000 hectares. Asian Agri even employ several officers to record the number and maintain the health of the owls. Curious how? Let’s take a closer look!
