In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Asian Agri, the oil palm plantation company, continues to raise the awareness of forest and land fires.
Asian Agri is committed to preventing fire as early as possible, so that the locations of villages prone to forest and land fires can always be on alert amid the outbreak of the Covid-19.
This was conveyed by Group Manager PT Mitra Unggul Pusaka (Asian Agri), Herman Sembiring, after the signing ceremony of the Fire Free Village MoU in 2020-2021 between PT MUP – Segati Village and Tambak Village, on May 12, 2020, at the PT MUP Group Office in Segati Village, Langgam Village, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province.
According to Herman, forest and land fires cannot be predicted to occur. However, fire incildents must be handled together. One of the actions is the Fire Free Village (DBA) program which is a prevention activity and as a form of company’s participation in handling forest and land fires in fire-prone villages.
