Asian Agri recently provided training to several Village Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in Jambi and Riau.
Four villages in Riau (Ukui 2, Tanjung Pauh, Delik and Petapahan) and two villages in Jambi (Tuo Sumai and Teriti) benefitted from the training.
Welly Perdede, Asian Agri Head of Sustainability and CSR, said that the aim of the training was to improve the economies of these villages, which are near the company areas.
“To support their economic growth, Asian Agri has provided palm oil seeds which are to be planted in land areas owned by the villages – 10 hectares in Petapahan Village and 2.7 hectares in Ukui 2 Village,” said Welly.
Arisman, representative of Ukui 2 BUMDes Board, expressed his thanks to Asian Agri for giving the training and providing assistance to the villagers to manage their own land, saying that it was very beneficial to the communities.
“We hope that the company can continue to assist us further in strengthening the implementation and management of the BUMDes,” he said.
