Asian Agri through its business unit PT Tunggal Yunus Estate is working together with the government of Petapahan Village in Indonesia’s Kampar Regency to establish productive palm oil plantations in the area via a partnership program.
Under the program, land owned by the Petapahan Village (covering an area of 11ha) is managed with Asian Agri’s assistance. As many as 1,408 Topaz palm oil seedlings have been planted in the area thus far.
According to Asian Agri Head of Sustainability Operations & CSR Welly Pardede, the partnership program aims to improve the economy and welfare of the village.
“During the program, Asian Agri provides technical assistance towards palm oil management so that land productivity will be maximized,” he said.
This year, Asian Agri provided an additional 200 Topaz palm oil seedlings to the village, in response to feedback by the government about existing palm oil plants which were underperforming and which therefore needed to be replaced.
Petapahan Village Chief Abdul Cholil has expressed gratitude to Asian Agri for continuously aiding the village community.
